Capturing True Colors of Trophies. . . . .

All fish mounts, whether skin or reproduction, must have the color restored or repainted. Every fish soon after death starts to lose its natural color and turn varying shades of gray. Skin mounts even after drying will retain hints of markings as guidelines. However, with a reproduction we are starting from scratch -- a plain, blank, white canvas so to speak. It takes study, good reference material, knowledge and special air-brushing talents and techniques to accomplish a natural-looking finished product. We are confident our artists are among the tops in their field. We use translucent lacquer pigments in blends and over-lays and applied at different angles to achieve shimmering, subtle hues and shadings. Many species will take on varying hints of color when viewed from different angles, the same way the real fish will.

Good, clear color photos with the order will greatly assist our artists in duplicating your fish. Otherwise we will use a color scheme generally accepted as typical for the species.
